Womenswear Fall 2016
DESCRIBE THE TEXTURES, FABRICS, AND OR HARDWARE YOU PLAN TO SHOW ON THE RUNWAY:
My collection builds onto the idea of the Vietnamese traditional garment, the Ao Dai. Typically this garment is made of silk and covers every inch of skin. My modern interpretation of this traditional garment is to increase the seam work as well as use denim in the construction of the collection. As I plan on using both denim and silk as the main fabrics in the collection, I will be laser cutting the denim and creating floral embellishments out of the silk and denim with Lectra. Additionally, there will be prominent details such as corsetry and full skirts that are iconic of the west while maintaining the fitted silhouettes and high slits that are iconic of the east.
